Harvesting in Cape York In 2016, PM Timber became the first company ever to promote local species of timber in Cape York (Northern Queensland) into the Asian market. Having secured contracts with freehold indigenous properties, we made it our mission to create more job opportunities for local community members and have been committed to train and employ local staff ever since. Our philosophy is simple. We recognise the strengths of our partners and work cooperatively with them to grow together. Our success in Cape York was made possible because we respect and maintain the traditional customs and cultural heritage of the traditional owners of the lands on which we work, live and dream. As such, our harvesting methods are modelled on the advice that has been provided to us by our partners – expert local staff – who offer recommendations on various operational matters involving the land, its cultivation, harvesting methods and trees of cultural significance in the area.
